School Projects Update

TDT funds a number of school projects throughout Tanzania, including Ikimba Schools in Kagera Region. The photos show students at Izimbya School in the Science laboratory including those studying advanced chemistry for form 5 and 6 examinations.

TDT is also supporting Tunamkumbuka Secondary School, another Ikimba School, with the construction of a new girls’ hostel. This will help girls to stay in school safely when they live far away in remote rural villages and allow them to study in the evening and improve their attendance and attainment.

The video clip is of students in Dodoma at their  pre-form 1  activities,  helping them with induction into their new secondary school and start to learn English instead of Swahili. The clip shows them engaged in paired discussion activities to find out things about each other,  speaking in English and having fun learning in a more active way. This project is funded by the Eddie Byers Fund and a donation from Ruth Isaacs and her late husband Ralph.
