Kurunyemi secondary school is in rural Kasulu district in Kigoma region. It has an enthusiastic, hard working Head whom we first met, before he was promoted, in Heru Ushingu village, when we funded solar lighting for his school. This time we gave a grant of £4,020 for both solar lighting and repair of the school borehole and pump.
When Reuben sent me the first photos of the classrooms used for evening studies by village students I was moved by his description: "Our school is the only building in the village lit with electricity. For our children we provide the light in the darkness that will change their lives. That light is education."
