In 2016 Hope of the Community Foundation in Kigoma supplied 100 mattresses for women prisoners in Kigoma Bangwe prison as part of a project to support the women’s health and social needs. This project was reported last year. Following the successful delivery of the mattresses the NGO applied for an additional smaller sum of £1500 to purchase 200 much needed blankets to give the women greater warmth and personal security at night. 200 blankets were delivered to the prison authorities.
