A grant was given to the Hope of the Community Foundation (HCF) to provide blankets to Bangwe Prison in Kigoma, due to an increase in prisoner numbers. Shaving kits were also distributed to enable the prisoners to maintain a healthy regime of hair cutting.
Bangwe prison has over 300 prisoners, both men and women, and has an insufficient supply of razors for shaving. This has led to prisoners sharing razors and cross-infection health issues.
HCF reported that on monitoring visits the prisoners were benefiting greatly from the improved regime. The leaders of prisoners conveyed to the senior officer in charge a thankful note for HCF and TDT on behalf of the beneficiaries.
