Damage to a small dam and its pipework left nine rural villages in the Kigoma region, approximately 51,000 people, and a local clinic with severe water shortages. This lead to people in the region using dirty river water, causing disease and poor nutrition. The original pipework distribution installations to the villages were in surprisingly good condition due to a previous local district water department scheme.

TDT gave a grant to the District Water Engineer, Development Office and community leaders to implement a major rebuild to the dam and intake pipework. This will benefit the 51,000 villagers affected and provide the clinic with clean healthy water.
