Year of grant : 2022

This project is an attempt to raise a group of about 30 people out of poverty.

Kasulu town in Kigoma region is fast growing and the group identified an unmet need for good quality bricks to build houses and public buildings like schools. A grant of £3,762 from TDT has enabled the group to buy an electrically powered brick making machine and other equipment they will need- a water pump, wheel barrows, spades and plastic sheeting.

As is happening all over the world at present, the delivery of the new machine was delayed, but arrived in June. The group intend to use the next few months to initially  produce a quantity of clay bricks, before moving on to producing two other types of brick (clay mixed with limestone and cement respectively) There appears to be a good market for their products.
