Kishanda Ward and its four small villages was in great need of clean water. Existing springs were contaminated by the open access to animals, clothes and personal washing. With generous funding from H & J Visram Foundation, four concrete supply points have been installed with a gravel filtering system integral to the concrete structure.
In Kishanda these water points are now providing healthy water to 18,000 people including very young children who often have died from drinking dirty water. The benefits are many including an immediate and dramatic drop in water borne illnesses like dysentery and giardia.
