Year of grant : 2021

We joint funded a Piggery Project with LUV+ in June 2021 to provide income to the Norini leprosy community in Dodoma Region and assist the people affected by leprosy (PALs) there to achieve food security post Covid and improve their mental wellbeing.

LUV+ works with PALs in Malawi, Zambia and Tanzania. The need for this project was identified through a group meeting where Persons Affected by Leprosy (PALs) discussed possible income generating activities. The Piggery project was chosen by the PALs, based on their assessment of local market conditions and their physical abilities as disabled people. The project is a hybrid pig project starting with 2 pregnant sows, selling mature pigs every 5 months and gradually increasing the number of producing sows.
