Manda Village: One Step Closer to Clean Water

We’re pleased to share that a new clean water project in Manda Village, Dodoma Rural has just been approved for funding by Tanzania Development Trust.

Over 20,000 people live in this area, where access to safe drinking water remains extremely limited. Many families face long, dangerous journeys to fetch water—often from unsafe sources. The need for a reliable, local water supply is urgent.

This project, led by Patrick Matonya, our experienced local representative in the region, will involve:

  • Drilling a borehole
  • Installing rainwater harvesting tanks
  • Establishing community-managed water centres
  • Using solar-powered pumping for sustainability

This is the second well we’ve supported in this area through HEMI (Health and Environmental Management Initiatives). The first project was successfully delivered in a more remote location, setting a strong precedent for this next phase.

We are particularly encouraged by the proactive role Patrick is playing in this project, and by the choice to work with a trusted local drilling company that guarantees water access. The inclusion of solar technology and storage tanks reflects our shared commitment to long-term, sustainable solutions.

The project has now been approved. We’ll be seeking funding shortly to bring it to life.
