A Big Step Forward for Tumaini
We’re delighted to share that the Clive Richards Foundation has awarded a grant of £7,600 to support the expansion of the Tumaini Open School dormitory in Tanzania.
Tumaini offers a second chance at education for girls who’ve been excluded due to pregnancy. It’s a place where young mothers can study without stigma, rebuild their confidence, and work towards a future they choose for themselves.
When the 2025 school year began, Tumaini welcomed 55 new girls—but the existing dormitory was already at full capacity.
Having already built a new dormitory up to the eaves, thanks to the Clive Richards Foundation, we can now move into Phase Two of our construction project. Their donation will fund:
- Roofing
- Windows and doors
- Plastering
- Electrical installation
These are vital steps toward making the building habitable and safe. Once complete, this dormitory will offer 50 additional bed spaces, some of which will allow girls to bring their babies with them.
We still need to raise around £7,000 to complete the remaining construction work, and a little more to furnish the space with beds and essentials.
We’re deeply grateful to the Clive Richards Foundation for their support and this show of trust in our work.
