🪡Tailoring training and income for women and girls – Kitahana village
Income Generation
Funding needed: £1,000
The Challenge
Women and girls in Kitahana village face serious economic hardship due to limited employment opportunities and high school dropout rates caused by early pregnancy. Many young mothers and vulnerable women struggle to support themselves and their families. Although some women already have basic sewing skills, they lack the business training, equipment, and financial resources needed to turn those skills into sustainable livelihoods.
Our Solution
The Lasting Impact
By developing practical skills and business confidence, the women and girls will be able to generate income, support their families, and build independent futures. The project aims for at least 80% of participants to be earning sustainable income within a year, with many establishing themselves as self-employed tailors. Over time, the cooperative will become a self-sustaining local enterprise, strengthening livelihoods and creating new opportunities for women in the community.
